Steps to use Putty:

2) Select Start-> PuTTy
3) Then in the PuTTy configuration window that appears, enter the IP
address in the field 'Hostname' and the appropriate port in the field

5) Then the PuTTy window appears and it prompts for username and

successfully.
~~~~~~
Initially, we were not able to paste the password when it prompted to
enter the password. On checking, we could see that the selection
settings for the PuTTy window was not set properly. Also, each time the
PuTTy application is closed, the settings get reverted. You can change
the settings for that particular session by following the steps given
below.
~~~~~~
6) Right click on the PuTTy title bar and select the option 'Change Settings'.
7) Subsequently, PuTTY Reconfiguration window appears. Select the option
'Selection' in the left 'Category' panel under the 'Window' title.
8) Correspondingly, the options controlling copy and paste appear on the
right panel. Select the first option 'Windows(Middle extends, Right
brings up menu)' and click on the 'Apply' button.
9) Now you will be able to paste the password for the username at the password by right clicking on the PuTTy window.
